The Council is the servant of the people, not the master.

Our principles

  1. The participation of all citizens of Solihull in local democracy
  2. Representation by candidates in council elections who are independent of central party control;
    • who are elected in their own communities
    • to listen to the views of residents in their communities
    • to represent and reflect the views and interests of their communities, without discrimination, prejudice or favour
    • to vote, according to their conscience, on behalf and for their communities
  3. Strong financial control, essential frontline services and identify and act upon priorities in the various communities of Solihull
  4. Transparency and open consultation in all aspects of council business. To uphold, and beyond, the intentions of the Freedom of Information Act
  5. Policies which improve both the green environment and built environment - aiming for a pleasant cleaner, greener and secure borough - treating all areas of Solihull, fairly and equably, and with an appreciation of our heritage.
